Feel like watching something but don’t know what? Then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve collected all of the best tv-series you must watch so that you can just check them off as well.

When making this list I also realized that I’ve put an enormous amount of time into watching series – it’s kinda crazy. Because I’ve watched (and loved) every series on this list at least once.

The first series on this list I’ve actually watched 5 times from start to finish. So if you need to see at least one series on this list – watch that one(!).

I’ve also tried to categories them if you’re looking for something special. But some of the fit in multiple categories, so I recommend you check out all of them. They are all amazing in their own way. 

In the bottom of this post I’ve also made a checklist with all of the series I mention for you to download.

Feel Good tv-series you must watch

1. Friends

This is a classic, and I’ve watched every episode at least five times. It’s about five people, Rachel, Ross, Monica, Joey and Chandler, that lives in New York. All have really different and quirky personalities. This is everything I need in life. 

2. Parks and Recreation

Dysfunctional coworkers that work in an Indiana town’s division of Parks and Recreation and pursues sundry projects to make their city a better place. 

Kimmy gets freed from the bunker where she has spent almost all of here life. Now she meets new friends and explores New York with an unbreakable optimistic attitude.

4. Over the garden wall

You get to go on an adventure with two brothers as they try to find their way throught the forrest. It’s beautiful, artsy and filled with everything unexpected.

5. Gravity Falls

Dipper and Mabel is sent to their great-uncle’s tourist trap over the summer. But little did they know that the forrest was filled with magic and adventures.

6. Hilda

Hilda has grown up in the wild with all of the creatures that live in their magical world. But suddenly her mum packs their things and they move to the city. But Hilda can find her magic anywhere.

Comedy tv-series you must watch

7. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

I don’t even know how to describe this one. It’s strange, hilarious, crazy creative and a little violent and mysterious.

8. 30 Rock

Liz Lemon, head writer of the comedy show “TGS with Tracy Jordan”, must deal with an arrogant new boss and a crazy new star, all while trying to run a successful television show without losing her mind.

9. Futurama

It’s the year 3000 and Fry wakes up realizing he’s been frozen for a 1000 years. Here he finds a robot, a distant relative and a cyclope as he carry on his carrier as a delivery boy. 

10. The Good Place

Eleanor Shellstrop wakes up and find herself in heaven, but there has been a mistake. And something else seems really fishy. 

11. Happy!

An injured hitman joins an imaginary unicorn called Happy to solve the case of his missing daughter. 

12. Russian Doll

As she celebrates her birthday there’s a terrible accident and she dies. But suddenly she wakes up in her bathroom, just to die again. She’s been cought in a loop of endless deaths and has to relive the same day over and over again.  

13. Disenchantment

Princess Bean is set to marry a prince. But instead she becomes friends with a demon and an elf and starts her own adventure.  

14. Final Space

Gary and his friend, that’s also a planet destroyer, Mooncake embark on a space journey to discover the mysteries of the universe. 

15. What we do in the shadows

Three vampires in modern day New York are trying to live their lives as normal as possible. They’re accompanied by familiars, werewolf and mysterius elders.

16. Big Little Lies

A group of friends live in a seemingly calm and safe little town. But under the surface lies secrets, forbidden love, violence and lies.  

17. Chernobyl (kind of a documentary as well)

In April 1986, an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics becomes one of the world’s worst man-made catastrophes.

18. Bloodline

When suddenly pushed together these family members finds themselves surrounded by secrets, lies and forgotten memories. And something terrible happens. 

19. Peaky Blinders

The year is 1919 and the place is Birmingham, England. We follow the gang Peaky blinders who are led by the fierce Tommy Shelby. 

20. The Handmaid’s tale

Set in a dystopian future, a woman called June, is forced to live as a handmaid under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship. We follow her fight to get out and find her family.

21. Barry

A professional assassin suddenly falls in love with theatre and joins an actor group. But no matter how much he fights back the past always seems to find him. 

22. The Crown

Follows the political rivalries, struggles and romances of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the events that shaped the second half of the twentieth century.

23. Narcos

An filmatized interpretation of the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar and the many other drug kingpins who plagued the Colombian country during the second half of the 20th century.

24. Breaking Bad

A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with incurable cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine together with his former student Jesse Pinkman in order to secure his family’s future.

Crime/Spooky tv-series you must watch

25. Living with yourself

Miles wakes up in an unmarked grave all alone in the forrest. When he’s finally made his way home he sees that he’s already there. Or at least a Miles that looks exactly like him is. 

26. Sharp Objects

An alcohol-loving reporter returns to her home town to report on a case of a missing child. As she returns she suddenly has to confront her repressed past filled with demons and unanswered questions. 

27. Bron (the swedish/danish version)

A body is found on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, right on the border. To solve the case, the Danish inspector Martin Rohde and the Swedish Saga Norén have to work together to find the killer.

28. Mind Hunter

It’s late 1970s and two FBI agents are tasked with interviewing already imprisoned serial killers to solve open cases and find answers to forgotten questions.

29. True Detective

Every season follows a new story and a new case. Every story dives into police investigations and unearth the personal and professional secrets of those involved, both within and outside the law.

30. Killing Eve

When working a case a security operative find herself obsessed with the assassin that’s under her survailence and their storylines gets inextricably linked.

31. Sherlock

A really well written modern update of the classic Sherlock Holmes where Sherlock and his doctor partner Watson solves crime in 21st century London.

32. You

A woman meets a man and falls in love. But for him, love soon develops to something more. Underneath the sweet bookworm surface hides a dark past and terrifying secrets. 

Out of this world/Sci-Fi tv-series you must watch

33. The Dark crystal

We return to the world of Thra, where three Gelfling discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power. Together they set out too ignite the fires of rebellion to save their world.

34. Supernatural

After years apart, two brothers has to work together when investigating the disappearance of their father. But monsters hide in the shadows, and they most seek help from the most unexpected of beings.

This was the first series I fell for and I’ve watched the first six seasons more than four times. This feels super nostalgic.

35. Castle Rock

Based on the stories of Stephen King, the series intertwines characters and themes from the fictional town of Castle Rock. It’s dark, twisted, bloody and made me watch with my lights on.

36. Firefly

A renegade crew aboard a small spacecraft tries to survive as they travel the unknown parts of the galaxy. It’s 500 years in the future and they’re evading warring factions as well as authority agents out to get them.

37. Stranger Things

When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, his friends and a remarkable girl has to fight unknown monsters in the dark to save him. All with a badass 80’s vibe.

38. Game of Thrones

Nine different families fight for control over the mythical lands of Westeros. All with a claim to the iron throne. But, far in the north an ancient enemy slowly returns after being dormant for thousands of years. It’s a grand adventure with princesses, dragons, mad kings and bloody wars.

39. Outlander

The year is 1945 and the English combat nurse Claire is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743s Scotland. Here she faces decease, death and unexpected love. Will she return when the time comes?

40. Love, Death + Robots

A collection of animated short stories all with their own animation style. The collection is incredibly well made and spans various genres including science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy.

41. Westworld

Explore a western world in which every human appetite can be indulged without consequence. We follow the lives of different people in the park, and sometimes everything doesn’t go according to the scripts.

Documentary tv-series you must watch

42. Planet Earth

The most expensive nature documentary series ever commissioned by the BBC, and the first to be filmed in high definition. Here we get to see the world we need to save.

43. Dark Tourist

Filmmaker and journalist David Farrier visits unusual, and often macabre, tourism spots around the world. He travels, among other places, to a nuclear lake and to a haunted forest.

44. Our Earth

Documentary series focusing on the breadth of the diversity of habitats around the world, from the remote Arctic wilderness and mysterious deep oceans to the vast landscapes of Africa and diverse jungles of South America.

45. Primal Survivor

We get to follow Hazen Audel as he travels to some of the worlds most remote places to learn the indigenous peoples way of life. We then follow him as he goes on a journey using only the tools and knowledge he has learned from the indigenous people.

46. The Jinx

Filmmaker Andrew Jarecki examines the complicated life of reclusive real estate icon Robert Durst, the key suspect in a series of unsolved crimes.

47. Conan without borders

Conan Without Borders takes late night host Conan O’Brien to different parts of the globe, proving O’Brien is television’s perfect traveling everyman. He infuses every episode with humor and makes you see the world in a new light.
